Jon Hamm just got out from the rehabilitation center due to his alcohol abuse issues and he talked about the character he plays in the American drama "Mad Men."
The 44-year-old Hamm talked to a couple of reporters on Wednesday for a press conference of the final episodes of the drama. He first talked about being in Los Angeles for 20 years now because he got in the city back in 1995. He shared that something he and his character, Don Draper, has in common is that they both started out with nothing before having a successful career.
According to People, back in 1995, Hamm was driving around the city with his 1986 Corolla Toyota and it was overheating. He pointed out that if he knew he would be talking about such experience, he could have been over the moon. Hamm noted that he would never change a thing about his hardships although he is now successful.
Hamm shared that he is very proud of himself because before "Mad Men", he was a struggling actor and not a lot of people in the show business could work for so many years for just one project.
As per Don Draper's character, Hamm revealed that he actually finds it difficult sometimes that researching about one's darkness is challenging. He pointed out that it's not easy to maintain the character of Don Draper because sometimes he just wants to go home, wash it off, and leave the character at work. Hamm added in the interview that he hopes Don Draper would finally find balance in his life as well as peace because although he is very talented, he is also very troubled.
Meanwhile, according to Time, Jason Isbell, a well-known songwriter and musician who also struggled with alcoholism, shared in a statement that Hamm should be proud of himself for being able to undergo a month-long rehab stint.
"Mad Men" will return on April 5 at 10 P.M. for the seven final episodes.
