The phenomenal American boy band Backstreet Boys will be performing at the Beijing MasterCard Center on April 18 as part of their world tour.
The pop group, who first dominated the airwaves and music charts in the 1990s, is currently promoting their first independent album, “In a World Like This.”
The album, which also marks the band’s eighth studio album, was released in North America in Aug. 2013. The world tour of the same title kicked off in May 2013 in Beijing and is slated to end on June 2015.
The “In a World Like This” album was released in China in Dec. 2013 and peaked at number three.
The band’s April 18 performance will be their third concert in the country’s capital, following their 2006 and 2013 visits.
The Backstreet Boys is composed of A.J. McLean, Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrell. The group has sold over 130 million records worldwide, giving them the title of being the best-selling boy band of all-time.
Also regarded as one of the world’s best-selling artists, they are the first group since Sade to have their nine albums climb up to the Billboard 200’s Top 10. They are also the only boy band to do such phenomenon.
On April 22, 2013, the pop group received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The five-member boy band has also launched their first documentary movie, “Backstreet Boys: Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of” earlier in January this year.
