Breaking his silence for the first time after his departure from the band One Direction, Zayn Malik tried to explain why he decided to leave the band.
In his first interview after controversially quitting from the band, Malik has opened up and clarified that he quit the band so as to pursue a solo career.
"I can't do this anymore," revealed the singer during the interview with MTV. "It is crazy and wild and a bit mad, but at the same time, I've never felt more in control in my life."
Malik admitted that he is planning his solo career and did not feel right to continue with his band mates - Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan. Malik declared in the interview that he is already planning a solo release produced by Naughty Boy.
By announcing the same, Malik has finally put a stop to various speculations regarding his departure. Multiple tabloids reported that Malik's fiancée Perrie Edwards was furious after seeing his viral pictures kissing another girl in Thailand. Following the rumour, Malik reportedly took a break and left the band amid its touring schedule to be back home to "deal with stress," which led to a speculation that Edward probably does not like Malik's partying lifestyle and wants him to quit the band.
However, Malik has slammed the cheating rumors saying that they are still together and Edwards supports his decision to go solo now after his five-year stint with the boy band.
Malik also put another rumor to rest claiming that his relationship with his band members had hit rock bottom and they wanted him to quit and leave. "My band has been really supportive," People quoted the singer from the interview.
Malik admitted that even he was taken aback to see the extreme reactions on social media over his departure from the band. The singer said that he never expected such world wide uproar and feels that he disappointed them.
