Pebble's crowd funding campaign for its new endeavor, Pebble Time, generated $20 million from donations alone.
According to Tech Crunch, the company achieved a feat for getting such a huge collection from crowd funding alone. Pebble is expected to deliver 48,690 Pebble Time watches in May and 29,997 Pebble Time Steel devices in July.
At the moment, the watch is backed up by the overwhelming support from crowd funding, but it will have to go solo and stand on its own feet after it hits the market and go for sale. The first pebble watch had received around 85,419 pre-orders upon its release; thus, raising expectations for this second release of the Pebble watch.
The watch will boast of 64KB of RAM and Cortex M4 CPU clocked at 100Mhz. This new version of the watch will also feature - microphone, 3D compass, light sensor, 3 axis accelerometer and the microphone.
Moreover, the company owners are analyzing the fact that Pebble watches' campaign came out at the time the Apple watch was announced and hence, it might have led the people to generate such an over whelming response for the pebble watch collection; they are yet to come to a conclusion whether or not this did the Pebble watch good or did it cause harm to it.
Wearable technology has gained high momentum in the past one year, accounting to Apple and its run of so many options with its collection of Apple watches.
