Smartwatch start-up Pebble managed to amass more than $9 million in its latest funding drive on Kickstarter in a little more than 24 hours. The campaign aims to collect funds in order to back Pebble's newest smartwatch project, the Pebble Time.
Based on information provided by Kickstarter, the campaign in now has more than 42,000 backers. These backers will receive an early-bird version of the Pebble Time; the official release of the smartwatch however is scheduled on May.
According to its official Kickstarter campaign page, the Pebble Time will sport a new timeline interface. It will also have a new color e-paper display and the company decided to integrate a microphone enabling users to send quick voice responses. The redesigned smartwatch interface also allows for quick and easy navigation.
The Pebble Time is also water resistant and the company said that it will soon support full customizability. The Time's battery life can reach up to seven days on just a single full charge. The new Pebble Time will be offered in three color variants; however the company has yet to confirm what colors are these.

When asked about the success of the funding campaign, Pebble CEO Eric Migicovsky said, "This is a throwback to our humble beginnings. We want to get this in front of the people who matter to us, like the people who have used the product, who backed us on Kickstarter, who have supported the community."
The Pebble Time will be offered for $159 in Kickstarter and the retail pricing will be $199. Pebble also confirmed that its newest smartwatch will work on both Android and iOS operating system, according to USA Today.
