Police officials from Elyria, Ohio have charged the parents of a child who was left unattended at a McDonald's restaurant last week.
According to WKYC, the police charged the father identified as Aaron Tate, 29, and the mother identified as Rachel Jaajaa, 22, with child endangerment. The report says that police were called at the 500 block of Broad Street last Friday as the two were arguing about who will be taking the child.
Jaajaa was reportedly getting a ride with her co-worker, who works at McDonald's, when Tate showed up carrying their child in a car seat. The two then argued because Jaajaa told Tate she will be going out with friends and she needs him to watch the baby for her.
However, Tate did not want to watch the baby so he walked into the restaurant then left the car seat with the baby in it. The baby was left on the floor of the said fast food chain and Tate reportedly walked out leaving the baby alone as he drove away in his car. Jajaa saw what Tate did and she and her co-worker followed Tate until they reached the Salvation Army, a Christian church, located at Broad Street and Chestnut.
The co-worker of Jaajaa was the one who called the police and noted that Jaajaa did not want to go back for the baby at the restaurant leading to their arrest.
According to Fox 8, the baby is only three to four months old and was watched by the manager of the store during the whole time the child was left alone in the said store. Also, Tate said in his statement that he did not want to keep the baby at that time because Jaajaa might accuse him of kidnapping their child. The reason for believing such remains unknown.
The baby is now in the custody of the sister of Jaajaa but the Children Services has already been contacted. No other information as to when the parents are to be released or what the conditions will be if they will be allowed to still keep the baby.
