While experts in the field of technology and social media analysts are trying hard to asses as to why apps like Instagram and Whatsapp gained so much recognition, a new research from Pew center throws light on this issue.
The Pew Research Center conducted a brief research on smartphone trends, the way users utilize its features and the age group of people who rely on these modern day gadgets for their everyday lifestyle.
At the end of their research, it was concluded that compared to adults who are in the age group of 35 to 45, teenagers are the ones who are strongly addicted to their smartphones. The young people love these communication devices mainly because of the wide range of social networking platforms.
At least 73% of teenagers around the globe own a smart device. The category covers smartphones and tablets, sometimes even an iPod touch which allows them to communicate using wireless internet services. The rest who are still underage or don't have the privilege to buy expensive phones opt for a cheaper smartphone or a basic phone. Most popular apps are designed for basic phones as well which allows these teenage kids to keep in touch without difficulty.
Among the global population, American kids are at the top as over 88% of them have access to one or other smart device. The majority of kids who own the device are between 13 and 17. While this age group might sound inappropriate to own such devices that could lead to trouble, it is the culture and the community that nurture the usage of smartphones, reported Technogigs.
Despite all this drastic growth, about 30% of the teenage population around the globe own a basic cellphone to simply make phone calls and texts. They usually don't have the urge to meddle with apps all the time and this trend varied from one region to another, according to the Pew Research Center report.
