Among the foods recalled by the Food And Drug Administration recently were Sabra hummus, Blue Bell ice cream, Henry's Farm soybean sprouts, Deer cumin, Central Market Teriyaki Salmon Jerky and Nature's Eats and Central Market macadamia nuts.
Sabra hummus, Blue Bell ice cream, Henry's Farm soybean sprouts were recalled because they were contaminated with listeria.
Although nobody has reported getting ill from the hummus so far, 300,000 cases of Sabra classic hummus, according to Slate magazine.
Also contaminated with listeria, Blue Bell ice cream was recalled after eight people who ate ice cream from Blue Bell Creameries were hospitalized after being infected with listeria, KSAT reported. Included in the recall were banana pudding ice cream pints.
Like Sabra hummus, no illnesses were reported to be connected to Henry's Farm soybean sprouts but packages of the brand's soybean sprouts distributed to retailers in Virginia and Maryland were recalled for possible contamination.
Some of the 7 oz. and 14 oz. packages of Deer cumin powder were recalled by Best Foods Inc. because they may contain peanuts that are not declared on the label, which could cause serious problems to people allergic with peanuts.
Similarly, 2,916 packages of Central Market teriyaki salmon jerky were recalled by World Wide Gourmet Foods because of undeclared soy and wheat, which may pose a serious problem for people allergic to these ingredients.
Contaminated with salmonella, Nature's Eats and Central Market macadamia nuts were recalled by Texas Star Nut and Food Co., Inc. due to possible contamination with the bacteria.
