Google is giving Project Tango 50 percent off its original price of $1,024 when it first launched in June 2014.
To be able to lure more developers to order and apply for Google's Project Tango, the internet giant informed some of its existing applicants through email that they can now avail of the said kit for half the original price.
For only $512, the said tablet will now look more affordable and more reasonable to purchase compared to its price when it was initially launched. The tablet is known to have the following primary features: an NVidia Tegra K1 processor, a 128GB built-in storage, 1,920x1,200 7-inch display, and a 170-degree motion tracking camera to name a few. Google also offers developer resources to let users get the most of the on-board motion-tracking and depth-perception sensors, ZDNet reported.
This price cut is only available to developers who applied for the Project Tango tablet. No one will be able to get the developer's kit without Google's invitation. The applicants who were able to receive the email are those invited to get the tablet half the price off, according to Android Police.
Also, Google mentioned that the company wishes to "open up sales more broadly" in the near future. According to the internet giant, this remains unclear as of today but could relatively mean anything.
To those who have not applied and yet wanted to acquire the developer's kit can simply visit the company's website and head to Project Tango website. Fill out a short form with specified details to apply for one.
