A Peterbilt semi truck recently tipped over and got smashed into Interstate 5 in Seattle without hurting the driver or anyone else. This stretch is known to have 19 such minor crashes in the past one year. But what was unique with this crash was that it left up to 14 million honey bees which got piled up on the highway.
The stingy insects buzzed around frantically and onlookers said that they had to do squat them one after other to prevent themselves from getting stung by the bees, according to Bulletin Standard. The press which reached the spot said that by the time they could reach, almost everyone had got stung by the honey bees, according to Washington Post.
This bizarre incident took place in the shadow of night, so very less could be done at that time. But in the morning, firefighters did try to douse out the remaining honey bees from the boxes and tried to kill them with foam and water.
The bees were mostly killed thus saving the rest of the people from being stung by the insects. The reporters could not help but tweet the pictures and videos reporting this crazy incident which took place after midnight.
These insects were being transported to a farm in Burlington, for pollinating crops; the farm is owned by Eric Thompson, who runs his own million dollar bee keeping company.
Thompson has said that in his 20 years of work experience, he has not seen such a fiasco before. He further said that this incident did less harm to his business and more harm to his ego and image, as he should have been more careful with the bees.
