An eight-year-old California boy was found safe after he fell asleep in the backseat of their car that was stolen from their home on April 20, Monday.
The boy, identified as Brock Guzman, slept throughout the time that he was kidnapped according to the Fairfield Police Department. Guzman was found two miles away from his home and the car was already abandoned by the robber when police officials inspected it.
The father of the boy, Paul Guzman, placed Brock in their 2001 Toyota Corolla car at 4:45 a.m. He started the engine but had to go back inside their house to get some things for his older son, Chron reported.
When Paul went back outside, the car was no longer there, and a bike was left near the house that possibly belonged to the robber. The father then used another car to search for his son and the stolen car.
The mother of Brock, Suzanne, then called 911 and four hours after the incident was reported, an unidentified resident called the officials saying that the car was parked in the neighborhood. Officials approached the car with caution at 8:15 a.m.
Brock was found safe and uninjured. Paul told the police officials that his son said the thief was surprised to see him inside the car shortly before he pulled over and left the Corolla unattended. Brock then went back to sleep after the thief left him and the car on the side of the road.
In a statement released by Fairfield Police Officer Kathryn McCormick to Daily Mail, they are not yet sure if the boy slept through the entire time he was in the stolen car. Also, they still do not have any description or lead regarding the thief.
McCormick added that they are still investigating the case, and charges that might be filed against the thief if caught were not yet determined.
