'Anti-Wee' Paint Sprays Revellers' Urine Back At Them (Photo : Youtube)
Drunken men relieving themselves publicly in Manchester will soon get a shock of their lives when they will find themselves showered in their own urine. The city council is considering to coat the public walls with a high tech "anti-wee" paint which bounces back every liquid which is sprayed on it.
BBC reported that an unidentified city councillor is in talks with the company which supplies the magical concoction called "Ultra-Ever Dry." The makers of the product claim that the paint "completely repel almost any liquid."
Hamburg, a German city, had introduced the "anti-wee" paint last month to cure the problem of drunken revellers in the city's red light area. The residents were reportedly fed up with the drunken mobs who often used the city's walls and doorways as urinals in night making it very unhygienic and smelly.
The residents came up with this innovative idea and painetd the public walls and urban landscape with the paint, which is otherwise used by manufacturers of Nissan cars. The residents of the city also erected signs warning that if anyone tried to pee in the area they will be in for a surprise.
"Do NOT pee here - we pee back," read the signs put across in Hamburg. The concept is increasingly gaining popularity and is now also in consideration by Australian officials and other cities in U.K.
The Week told that Ultra-Ever Dry paint, manufactured by UltraTech, is both "hydrophobic and oleophobic." It simply implies that the product is resistant to water as well as oil. The secret behind the paint is in its composition which helps in creating a protective layer between the produc and the immediate environment due to which any liquid when sprayed on it bounces back off the surface.
Despite the huge advantages, the cost is still a considering factor in the implementation of this project in any city. A research shows that if Manchester decides to get only a fraction of the city's lower half of wall coated with the paint, it will cost about $7467. However, the residents of Hamburg are extremely satisfied with the anti-wee paint project and find the money well spent.
