Tech giant Microsoft recently announced that some versions of the highly anticipated cross-platform operating system, Windows 10, will be delayed and will be released in a later date. The PC version of Windows 10 is ready to be rolled out but the Windows 10 Mobile for smartphones is not.
This was confirmed by Microsoft Vice President Joe Belfiore in a statement saying, "Our phone builds have not been as far along as our PC builds. We're adapting the phone experiences later that we're adding the PC experiences."
According to n3rdabl3, the Windows 10 operating system is set to launch in summer but the release for other platform will come on a much later date. Microsoft did not provide a specific date or timeline as to when the company will officially release the operating system in other platforms.
According to Digital Trend, the problem currently faced by Microsoft will no doubt affect the release of its flagship smartphones running on the Windows platform. Microsoft, after taking over the mobile division of Nokia, has already released several low to mid-range Windows smartphone but has yet to capitalize on the more expensive and higher-tiered segment of the market.
In addition to the current problem at hand, Microsoft also revealed that not all of the features of Windows 10 will be simultaneously released at launch. Belfiore did not provide an exact list of what features will be miss the initial launch but hinted that these features will be released to users starting summer until autumn. He added that the new browser, Microsoft Edge, will not be part of the initial launch and will be released on a later update.
