The soccer reform plan that China has launched in late March has started to reap positive results in Asia.
In the recent world club rankings released by Web portal, footballdatabase.com, the Guangzhou Evergrande grabbed the top position in Asia while Beijing Guo'an ranked 19th.
Guangzhou has also high hopes that they will make a new record if they will be able to collect the most number of points on the AFC league group stage and beat the Western Sydney Wanderers on Tuesday.
The team's head coach, Fabio Gannavaro, stated that they will give their best shot to grab three points. The club has already sealed the lead in the group after earning 10 points. If they win the Tuesday match, they will take the championship tilt from the Wanderers.
Meanwhile, Beijing Guo'an is just a point away in order to advance to the last 16. They will be competing against the Suwon Bluewings. But the group could still get through on goal difference in case they lose the match.
Beijing Guo'an coach Gregorio Manzano is optimistic that his team could snatch the point and advance.
"We know that it is possible we can progress to the second round even if we lose, but we are not thinking about it," he said.
The thing that really troubles Coach Manzano, as he admitted, is how to arrange his players' formation in the absence of suspended and injured footballers. The team's trio Lang Zheng, Yu Dabao and Ha Dae-sung are currently suspended and center-back Xu Yunlong has been injured.
"It is difficult for us without a few key players, especially when many of them are in the same position, but we are ready," he remarked.
