Nintendo is venturing into the smartphone games' domain and will release five games in the next two years. These games will be entirely new and Nintendo's old games will not be ported into the mobile domain as the compny is developing a gaming console called "NX."
Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata revealed that in the next two years, the company will make five hit smartphone games. With the company serious about venturing into the smartphone business, Iwata said they are leaving no stone unturned into making each one of the games as high quality as possible.
Iwata declared that Nintendo turned over a profit for the first time in the last four years, according to The Verge. He stressed that his company intents to seriously persue the smartphone business domain. He also added that they will only make mobile games which are in sync with the play style of those mobile devices.
The gaming company is also developing "NX," which is an upcoming gaming console. The company is hoping that the smartphone games will help to get the customers attuned to the Nintendo experience and will drive sales of the gaming consoles as well. It is also partnering with DeNA in order to provide a cross-platform service to the users, according to Venture Beat.
Moreover, Nintendo has a big stronghold in the merchandise business. It has sold more than 10 million Amiibo figurines. Some of the NFC-equipped characters are out of stock and the company is ramping up production so as to supply them to the stores.
