A new image purported to be that of the Meizu flagship the MX 5 has leaked online leading to speculation of its impending launch soon. Previous rumors have pegged the launch date of the MX 5 to be on June 30.
What is immediately perceptible with the leaked images is that it carries forward what can be termed as the Chinese fascination with bezel-less design.
That apart, the other bits and pieces of information that has made it to the public domain include a metallic uni-body design for the device, which if true will amount to a break from past convention at Meizu that traditionally relied on plastic for its smartphone range.
The MX 5 is also rumoured to incorporate a 2.2 GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6795 chip with Lollipop being the Android version of choice to run on the smartphone, claimed GSMArena. There are also chances of the company's own Flyme OS running at a layer on top of the Android.
Meanwhile, the leaked image also revealed a single capacitive button below the display similar to the one on MX4 Pro which many speculate to house a fingerprint sensor as well.
Meizu is keen to replicate the success that Xiaomi has achieved and is employing a similar strategy as its domestic competitor, that of pushing volumes by pricing its handsets relatively low without compromising on quality and features.
According to AndroidHeadlines, Meaizu is also believed to be readying its Meizu Blue Charm Note 2 for a likely launch on June 2.
