A fresh earthquake has struck north-eastern Nepal. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, it was a magnitude 7.4 earthquake that has hit the devastated Nepal. Initially, the U.S. Geological Survey stated that the earthquake had a magnitude of 7.1 on the Richter scale.
Also, reports surfaced that northern parts of India felt the tremors. The earthquake is said to hit near the base camp for Everest at a depth of 19 kilometres.
This new earthquake has struck near the town of Namche Bazar in Nepal. According to BBC, the epicentre of the new earthquake was in a rural area called Zham close to the border of China. The epicentre was 83 kilometres east of Nepal's capital Kathmandu.
"This is a really big one," Prakash Shilpakar, owner of a shop based in Kathmandu said to Reuters (via BBC).
Reuters reporters stated that people in Kathmandu ran outside as soon as they felt the tremors. Similarly, people in offices and homes in northern parts of India rushed outside after the earthquake struck.

A 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal two weeks ago and, close to 8000 people were killed and more than 17,000 people were injured. Due to bad weather and avalanches, the rescue efforts were affected.
"Rescuers have been unable to go there to look for bodies since the weekend because avalanches continue to fall and make it dangerous," Uddhav Bhattarai, district administrator of Rasuwa said to Reuters (via Cbc.ca) about the Langtang Village.
