Though it took a while for ABC to renew "Secrets and Lies" for another season, the show is finally heading on its second chapter. Ryan Phillippe, the actor who plays Ben Crawford, revealed some treats from the newest installment and why no character is returning except for Detective Andrea Cornell played by Juliette Lewis.
"Secret and Lies" series started with 6 million United States viewers alone and though the figure went down in the middle of the first season, the series gathered 7 million viewers in an approximate during the finale episode.
The second season is one of the many renewed shows and while this is great news to viewers, Philippe's absence in the upcoming episodes might bring confusion to many. The "Cruel Intentions" actor explained that he is not returning, all other actors as well. Only Lewis will be present in the original cast, the Hollywood Reporter revealed.
"I'm so happy and excited for all involved that 'Secrets and Lies' will return for another season. Congrats to Juliette [Lewis], Barbie Kligman, Aaron Kaplan and the writers," Philippe tweeted. "Since many people are confused, the first season revolved around an accused man, his suffering family, and how he sacrifices himself ultimately for them. That story was told completely and for the upcoming season, I know it will be just as emotional and compelling."
"Secrets and Lies" upcoming season will only have one primary character, and that is Detective Andrea Cornell.
An insider told The Wrap that the departure of Phillippe and others after the initial 10-episode run of "Secrets and Lies" has always been the plan.
