An Amtrak train derailed in Port Richmond, Philadelphia on Tuesday night. At least five people are dead and more than 50 people are reportedly injured after the Amtrak train rolled on its side.
The train was carrying five crew members and close to 238 passengers. The train was travelling to New York City when it derailed outside Philadelphia.
Michael Black, a passenger said that the passengers felt that the driver hit the brakes hard and their car which was third from last rolled to the side.
"We were rolling along nice and smooth and then all of a sudden we were on our side," Don Kelleher, a passenger on the train said to NBC Philadelphia.
Fire department's spokesman stated that apart from the five people who died, there are six people who are seriously injured while 43 people were taken to the local hospitals. According to ABC News, many passengers were able to come out of the Amtrak derailed train on their own, however they were injured.
Ex-Pennsylvania Congressman Patrick Murphy was travelling on the train and after the accident, he took to Twitter and shared that he was fine and helping others on the train.

He talked to WPVI of ABC's Philadelphia station and share that there was mayhem.
"There was a lot of blood, a lot of bleeding," Murphy said. He added that he somehow managed to get up and he landed on a person. but he was fine too. "The guy next to him was completely passed out, knocked unconscious," Murphy added.
Services between New York and Philadelphia were cancelled by Amtrak.
