"The Aviator" star Cate Blanchett is in news for declaring that she had been in the same-sex relationship multiple times in the past.
The Oscar award winning actress made the startling revelation while discussing her upcoming movie "Carol," in which she is playing the role of bisexual woman. The actress, however, remained coy on the subject when pressed for further details.
"Yes, many times," said the star when asked whether she had been in such relationships ever before.
The 45-year-old star is married to playwright Andrew Upton and has four children. The actress also disclosed her vulnerable side during the interview when she indicated that she fears Twitter and feels that if she will join, she will end up in rehab as the micro-blogging site is too addictive.
Blanchett's upcoming movie is scheduled to premiere on May 17. The movie is based on the 1952 Patricia Highsmith novel "The Price of Salt," which revolves around the story of a young department store clerk, played by Rooney Mara, who falls in love with the Blanchett's character, Carol.
Meanwhile, several media outlets apparently do not trust the actress' words and have accused her for giving wrong information about her sexual orientation so as to promote her upcoming flick. Herald Sun reported that the actress is married for 18 years and never before had spoken anything about being bisexual or lesbian.
Also, the star was never reported or rumoured to be in a romantic relationship with any other woman. Apparently, it is just a publicity ploy to promote her upcoming movie based on a lesbian relationship, which admitedly faced difficulty in getting finance at the time of its production.
