"Grey's Anatomy" has been renewed for two more seasons despite a drop in ratings following Derek Shepherd's (Patrick Dempsey) shocking death. The upcoming seasons promises more drama and heartaches and could possibly introduce a new doctor to replace McDreamy.
On Thursday, the 11th season of "Grey's Anatomy" will conclude but fans will already have a glimpse of the new character, Dr. Andrew de Luca, portrayed by Giacomo Gianniotti.
According to reports, Gianniotti's appearance in season 11 will be nothing like his upcoming appearance in season 12. There have been speculations that he will be replacing Derek, Venture Capital Post reported.
As of late, ABC and "Grey's Anatomy" show creator Shonda Rhimes has not revealed whether or not the "Reign" actor will replace Dempsey but his character's back story has already been unveiled.
Dr. Andrew was hired at the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital after he saved a woman during one catastrophe that hit Seattle. At that time, he was on his way to the hospital for his internship. However, when he saw the accident, he immediately decided to bring the victim to Grey Sloan.
While there, Dr. Andrew will be mistaken as a doctor and Dr. Owen (Kevin McKidd) will ask him to treat some patients. Later on, he will confess that he was just an intern, according to Unreality TV.
In other news, the finale episode of "Grey's Anatomy" entitled, "You're My Home" will remind the doctors at the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital what truly matters most in their lives.
"Grey's Anatomy" airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
