Dell, a U.S.-based computer technology firm, has recently launched a series of storage products exclusively designed and crafted for the Chinese market as part of its expansion effort in the country.
The new set of products was unveiled on Wednesday, May 13, in Beijing. It includes the new Dell Storage SCv2000 series, which is available at 96,000 yuan for each storage array.
The entry-level storage product aims to target both small and medium-scale businesses.
According to Li Haiping, Dell's manager for Greater China, the launching of new products comes after the slowdown in IT budgets in the country's business sector.
"The growth of IT is always slower than that of a company's business, requiring CIOs to think harder about how to manage their limited resources," Li remarked.
The computer tech company first entered the enterprise-class storage business in 2008 after it acquired a rising competitor, EqualLogic.
Despite fierce competition with rivals such as IBM, HDS and Chinese giants Inspur and Huawei, Dell has managed to take a fair share in the market as it made the China's government procurement list of enterprises.
Dell made its initial presence in the Chinese market back in 1995 through product exportation. Three years after, the firm established manufacturing factories in the country.
One of the company's remarkable business strategies in attracting customers is offering customized products at the most economical cost. In June of last year, Dell's software arm launched a fully localized Chinese version of its database development and management solution, Toad for Oracle.
