Google and Twitter have renewed the partnership deal that ended in 2011, with a new agreement which will feature live Tweets prominently in search results.
As of now, Android and iOS - Google Search app and mobile web users, can find Tweets relevant to the search in the U.S. Both the companies have promised to roll out the new feature in other countries in the "coming months," with a desktop version to follow soon.
With this new deal, a series of Tweets along with images, will be listed for users to scroll through horizontally in the search results. The Tweets listed are hyperlinked, tapping on which will direct the users to the Twitter website to view the tweet and "and discover additional content," according to Twitter Blog.
"It’s a great way to get real-time info when something is happening. And it’s another way for organizations and people on Twitter to reach a global audience at the most relevant moments," Google product manager Ardan Arac wrote in the official blog.
The new agreement follows the recent deal between the two companies, in Feb., which allows Google to index real-time data from the social network. However, this is not the first instance where Tweets appear in Google search results, as since the last deal in 2009, Tweets have made their way to the search results. The new deal is reportedly about deeper integration between Google and Twitter.
Apart from Google, Microsoft’s Bing also has a similar feature of integrating messages from Twitter. These integrations comes as the social media company is trying to drive more traffic to the site and increase the user count.
