Talk show host Sharon Osbourne is taking a one-month leave from her hosting duties on the CBS show "The Talk" after reports of her collapsing in her home emerged recently. The 62-year-old host's representative cited "mental and physical fatigue" as the reasons for the reality star's sudden hiatus.
"Sharon has been advised and has agreed to take a month hiatus to recover fully from these recent events," said the host's representative in a statement, Variety reported. The rep explained further that Osbourne's doctors believe that she has returned to work too soon after being attacked by a bout of pneumonia and probably require more rest to bounce back to her full vigour.
Prior to pneumonia, the show's host reportedly had undergone a hernia surgery and was thus hospitalized for a long time. The back to back medication and treatment has apparently left the popular host weak and vulnerable, due to which she had eventually collapsed at her residence.
Osbourne, who is the matriarch of the popular talk show, was also treated for colorectal cancer in 2002 and underwent a preventative double mastectomy in 2012 after it was revealed she carried a gene for breast cancer, Daily Mail reported.
As of now, it is not declared who will fill in the shoes of the celebrity host. Her daughter Kelly Osbourne, former co-host of "Fashion Police" had earlier filled in for her when she was hospitalized for pneumonia in March this year.
It seems that Osbourne's one month long hiatus may eventually turn into a retirement plan owing to her ill health and old age. She has been co-hosting the show since its debut in 2010 after CBS canceled one of her soap operas. The socialite and businesswoman met her future husband, heavy metal singer Ozzy Osbourne, at the age of 18 while working for her father who was managing the band Black Sabbath.
