However, it is only Apple that has been successful in implementing fingerprint scanner based security mechanism on their iPhone devices, read iPhone 5s and the latest iPhone 6 duo, even though several companies have played around with it.

The new Samsung Galaxy S6 too uses a fingerprint scanner though the device itself has sold just a fraction of the iPhone 6. Samsung revealed it has managed to sell 10 million of its S6 and S6 Edge during the first month since its launch, a figure that Apple iPhone 6 munched off during its first launch weekend itself. There has been no looking back for the two iPhone 6 versions ever since.

HTC had incorporated a fingerprint scanner on its HTC One Max, making it the first on any Android device. However, the One Max which was launched late in 2013 faded away into oblivion soon thereafter. HTC followed that up with the One M9 Plus which also features a fingerprint scanner and boasts of impressive specs but is limited to Asian markets as of now, TechRadar pointed out.

The LG G4 is another top contender for the best Android phone right now but lacks a fingerprint scanner. No other smartphone currently boasts of a fingerprint scanner and has sold in number anywhere near to the Apple iPhone 6.
