Despite the not-so-good reviews of "Transformers 4," Paramount Pictures has announced the arrival of its fifth film in the sci-fi action series coming in fall 2017.
Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner, has confirmed "Transformers 5" in his 2015 Q1 Earnings Conference Call. Further revealing the details, Goldner said that the company has hired a group of talented writers led by Akiva Goldsman to come up with a creative storyline for the upcoming sequel. Inside reports stated that the group of writers include Robert Kirkman of "The Walking Dead", Art Marcum and Matt Holloway of "Iron-Man," Zak Penn of "Pacific Rim 2" and "X-Men: The Last Stand," and Jeff Pickner of "Lost" and "Fringe."
With the recent announcement, the question of the sequel's director has once again gained momentum. According to reports from Ecumenical News, director of the four movies of the franchise, Michael Bay, had announced his departure from the giant robot series in October 2014.
Following the declaration, it was rumored that Bay's protégée, Jonathan Liebsman, who directed the latest live-action adaptation of the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," will take the helm of "Transformers 5." However, the studio is yet to announce the name of the director of the highly anticipated sequel, The Gospel Herald reported.
Meanwhile, the former cast is expected to reprise their role in the upcoming sequel. Mark Whalberg, who had starred in "Transformers: Age of Extinction" as Cade Yeager, a single father and a struggling inventor, had confirmed in the past that he would be returning for the sequel.
