Justin Bieber has pleaded guilty to assault and careless driving cases stemming from an incident in August 2014, in which he was arrested after his ATV collided with a minivan carrying paparazzi near Stratford, Canada.
Clerk Jakki Wiseman of Stratford, Ontario, told CNN that the 21-year-old, who was released later, was found guilty of assault and careless driving. The star has been slapped with $600 fine for careless driving while the charges for assault have been discharged completely.
Bieber attended the court proceeding held at Stratford via Skype and remained predominantly silent throughout the court proceedings, during which he admitted the attack on photographers Todd Gillis and Sean O'Neill.
The incident happened when the "Baby" hit maker was visiting his parents in Canada along with his then girlfriend Selena Gomez. While driving an ATV along with the "Come And Get It" singer, Bieber encountered paparazzi with whom he got involved in an altercation. The singer drove toward the van and struck its right front corner before grabbing the camera of one of the photographers, The Star reported.
"There should be laws against what I just experienced. We should have learned from the death of Princess Diana," tweeted the singer, just after the incident.
This is not Bieber's only run-in with the law. He also pleaded guilty to careless driving and resisting arrest in a Miami DUI case. He was ordered a charitable donation and subjected to anger management classes.
The singer, who was also accused of pelting eggs at his neighbour, recently accepted the settlement deal in which he has to shell out $80,900 restitution for damages along with two years' probation and restraining order against the victim's family.
