Known for her role Dr. Stephanie Edwards in "Grey's Anatomy," Jerrika Hinton recently dished on how she was discovered by Shonda Rhimes in the TV series "Scandal."
Hinton played a character named Hannah in "Scandal" episode titled "Hell Hath No Fury," which aired on April 19, 2012. She said Rhimes noticed her in the said episode and decided to include her in "Grey's Anatomy" cast.
In an interview with Fashion N Style, Hinton said being discovered by Rhimes in "Scandal" is like winning the lottery. She added that she learned a lot of things from playing Dr. Stephanie Edwards in "Grey's Anatomy."
Directed by Rob Corn, the "Grey's Anatomy" episode titled "Going Going Gone," which aired on Sept. 27, 2012, marked Hinton's debut in the medical drama. At the time, South Korean-American actress Sandrah Oh was still part of the lead cast.
Aside from "Scandal," Hinton also played bit parts in several TV series before joining the "Grey's Anatomy" cast. These include "Bones," "Gossip Girl," "Terriers," "Mad Love" and "Ghost Whisperer" among others.
Meanwhile, "Grey's Anatomy" alum Melissa George has confirmed that she is pregnant with her second baby with her partner Jean-David Blanc. Because of this, NBC has to move the release date of its new medical drama "Heartbreakers," which was supposed to premiere before 2016.
NBC executives were surprised by George's pregnancy announcement as the first trailer of the "Heartbreaker" series has already been shown. To accommodate the Australian actress's pregnancy, production on the upcoming medical drama is being revised, Variety has learned.
Both Hinton and George appeared in "Lie To Me" but in different episodes. Watch Hinton talk about being a star in a medical drama here:
