Bart may see his demise at the hands of Sideshow Bob for season 27 of "The Simpsons." This was revealed following the return of Kelsey Grammer, who lends his baritone voice to Sideshow Bob.
At the ATX Festival in Austin, Texas, Entertainment Weekly reports that "The Simpsons" producer Al Jean revealed that Bob may get this wish this time-with the twist bring what comes after in at the end. What will follow will be the torment of "What's next?" for Sideshow Bob, now that he has accomplished his mission of 25 years.
"I hated frustration comedy so we'll scratch that itch," said Jean to Entertainment Weekly.
Of course, this won't be the end for the mischievous El Barto. He will be back come the Treehouse of Horror 2015 episode in time for Halloween. "The Simpsons" has been the subject of fan speculation, with people wondering how the show will continue given the noted decline in humor and edge for the show.
In an interview with Sydney Morning Herald, Nancy Cartwright, long-time renowned voice of Bart, gave her two cents on how she would want the show to end, when it does.
According to Cartwright, what she wanted to see was an ending that would be satisfactory to both the fans and the staff who have followed the show for more than a quarter of a decade. For Cartwright, the show should not be decided on by negotiations or budgets.
This is an especially important issue considering the decline that the show's quality has recently experienced and has been criticized over by fans. Despite the recent renewal for the show, "The Simpsons" recently had a run-in with trouble as Harry Shearer, who provided the voice for notable characters Ned Flanders, Mr. Burns and others, had officially quitted the show due to contract disputes.
"The Simpsons" has been renewed for two more seasons earlier last May. This seals the deal for Season 27 and 28 of the long-running Fox show. The extension will bring the total of "The Simpsons" episode to 625, making it the longest running series in American television.
