A few months before its supposed release date in September or October 2015, rumors about the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 are steadily coming out that effectively provide a general picture of the Android phablet once it is unboxed.
And the latest buzz points to the second Samsung 2015 flagship boasting of USB Type-C port, a huge battery jump and the latest flash memory technology available. But as always the case, device vendors stuffing the best components into a single gadget are compelled to cut some corners.
The Note 5, according to G4Games, will skip the super-crisp 4K display resolution this year, dashing the hopes of the legion of Sammy fans that the jumbo-sized phone would be the first to sport the cutting-edge screen technology.
Breakneck Speed
In the same blog report, G4Games said that USB Type-C 3.1 is packed with the Note, which signals one significant jump for the device - speed both in chewing in battery power and data exchanges. The first is already a standard in some Android high-end devices that headline quick recharging features, bringing to mind the Galaxy S6 also from Samsung.
As for data processing, it will be blazing fast in the Note 5 thanks to the same Type-C port and connectivity standard. And with the inclusion of UFS 2.0 Flash memory, first unpacked by Samsung with the S6 and S6 Edge, Samsung's promise of superfast data transfer between the Note 5 and other devices is virtually a done thing.
Also, BGR noted in a report that the latest USB standard is forward-looking so many more benefits are forthcoming. One already enjoyed by users is the full reversible connection, meaning a USB 3.xx cable can be hooked in a port without looking.
Monster Battery
Tipped too to power up the Note 5 out of the box is a colossal 4100mAh battery pack that would assure users of longer operating hours in a single charge. This happening, however, will depend on two things - the operating system, likely Android M, and the processing chip.
The most recent reports indicate that the main engine for Samsung's upcoming phablet is the 8-core Exynos 7422 application processor, which is thought to be mightier but more power efficient than its immediate predecessors or even Snapdragon rivals.
Minor Letdown
As mentioned, there is a minor letdown as the Galaxy Note 5 will likely settle for the 2K screen resolution and pass up on 4K for now. But this disappointment could be offset by the presence of the Type-C port.
"The Galaxy Note 5 will not come with a 4K display. It will be able to output to one though, thanks to USB 3.1 and its double theoretical bandwidth (10GB/s vs 5GB/s)," G4Games reported.
The Samsung Galaxy phablet release date traditionally happens in the few weeks following the annual Berlin IFA gadget trade show being held every September of the year. It looks like so far that nothing will change for the Galaxy Note this 2015.
