"Fast and Furious 8" is expected to have much more than just car racing. Eva Mendes is set to reprise her "2 Fast 2 Furious" role in the upcoming sequel and is rumored to attract the attention of Dominic Toretto, played by Vin Diesel.
The eight instalment of "Fast and Furious" series is likely to showcase a love triangle featuring Vin Diesel's character Toretto, Letty Ortiz, played by Michelle Rodriguez and undercover customs agent Monica Fuentes, played by the "Hitch" star.
According to Ecumenical News, Mendes' character will be back for the upcoming sequel and will become the major cause of rift between Diesel's character and his long time love Ortiz. The 41-year-old actress's character also had a cameo role in "Fast Five," in which she had hinted that she will somehow come in between Toretto and his love.
Mendes first appeared in the franchise when she played the undercover U.S. Customs service agent in its second instalment, "2 Fast 2 Furious." Interestingly, late actor Paul Walker's character Brian O'Connor was shown romantically attracted towards the Mendes' character in the movie.
Apart from a small cameo role in the fifth instalment, this will be Mendes' second major movie of the franchise, Christian Today reported. Apart from her, two more actresses are likely to join the cast of the sequel. Mixed martial artist and reigning UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion, Ronda Rousey and the current UFC Women's Strawweight Champion, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, are also expected to join the cast of the movie, set to release on April 14, 2017.
Meanwhile, Cody Walker, who filled in for his late brother in "Furious 7" after his untimely death, is also likely to appear as a new character in the movie. Cody reportedly will not reprise his brother's role but is likely to have a significant and interesting part to play in the upcoming sequel.
