Google has reportedly set the Nexus 2015 release date in October and will roll out the device with premium features and sticker price. This is true, at least, for the LG-made vanilla Android flagship, a new report said.
The 5.2-inch LG Bullhead is being billed as a premium handset, according to the new reports picked up by G4Games from South Korea. The labelling is likely intended to build up the next Nexus as direct rival to the iPhone 6S, Apple's rumored sequel to the highly successful iPhone 6. It is believed that the device will touchdown around September this year, or a month before the Nexus 2015 unboxing.
Premium specs and features
As a worthy iPhone competitor, LG's Nexus phone will be unpacked with premium specs and features and headlining the lineup is a 3D camera system. Recent reports have suggested that Apple plans to bump up the next iPhone camera with of the new capabilities set for deployment is 3D camera capabilities.
In Nexus' case, the camera hardware jump is mostly to give users 3D camera interface and graphics, the G4Games report added. On top of the camera upgrade, the LG Nexus Bullhead will have a plethora of killer features that will be hardwired to the device's operating system, which likely is Android M.
Premium price
Yet in assuming the premium handset label, the likelihood is the unit tag price for the Nexus 2015 will be in the same league with that of industry leaders like Apple and Samsung. Unlocked versions of the iPhone 6 and Galaxy S6 are priced around $700 and up, indicating that the LG Nexus will have an asking price of no less than $600.
This is pricier than what was mentioned in earlier reports - that the Nexus flagship this year will sell at under $500. But going beyond the affordable price point is likely justified by the inclusion of exciting features like fingerprint reader, USB-C ports and Android Pay with the device, BGR said in a report.
The tag price, however, remains speculative and is based on the notion that LG and Google are cooking up a high-end device in the same level with that of the iPhone and other Android flagships.
Regardless, the confirmation should come on or before the Nexus 2015 release date later this 2015. As in previous rollout moves, this could happen around the holiday quarter of the year or likely between October and November.
