The list of pursuers include the Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills, Denver Broncos, New York Giants, New England Patriots, Dallas Cowboys, Oakland Raiders and Minnesota Vikings.

The Seattle Seahawks and the St. Louis Rams are also considered possible destinations.

Mathis could be signed up ahead of training camps starting up this summer.

Agent Drew Rosenhaus hinted that Mathis is not in a hurry to sign with a team and may wait until it gets closer to training camp.

Mathis' camp has been asking for a new contract the past two years but was eventually let go by the Eagles who could not accomodate the demands.

The Eagles have signed Mathis for $5.5 million this season and for $6 million next year and have offered a raise of $1 million for each of those seasons.

Mathis  who is one of NFL 's best guards and most consistent pass blockers, personally felt that the amount was enough for Mathis.

However, Rosenhaus wanted more for his player.

Mathis admitted he could have played under the terms of his Eagles contract  and wanted his mind to block out the contract dispute, which he called a distraction. He added that it was not his choice that he was cut by the Eagles in the manner it happened.

Eagles coach Chip Kelly revealed that it was Rosenhaus who requested for Mathis' release.

Kelly admitted they did not plan to extend or adjust Mathis' contract, so the team decided to grant Rosenhaus' request.

He added that the conversation about Mathis contract had gone far too long so the Eagles decided not to insist that Mathis honor his contract.

The Miami Dolphins have reportedly sought a trade for Mathis around the draft period.
