“Gears of War: Ultimate Edition” release for Xbox One, scheduled to be on Aug. 25, will also give gamers early access to the “Gears of War 4” beta test this spring.
“‘Gears Ultimate Edition’ will be $39.99 and include early access to a ‘Gears 4’ Beta this spring,” tweeted Rod Fergusson, the head of Microsoft’s Gears of Wars development team The Coaliton.
“Gears of War 4”, the next all-new game in the shooter series, is scheduled for a 2016 launch during the holiday season, according to Windows Central.
Microsoft announced the upcoming “Gears of War 4” during the E3 press conference along with a demo showing two characters - JD and an unnamed woman, exploring an abandoned, battered town at night. In the 6-minute gameplay video, the partners were seen fighting a scorpion-like monster with projectile attacks, with Gnasher shotguns and Lancers, while a heavy storm swept through destroying enormous structures.
“Gears of War 4” will more likely feature two player co-op, instead of the four co-op in the series, IGN reported.
However, Microsoft has not revealed any other information about the “Gears 4,” apart from the release date in late 2016.
Microsoft also officially took the wraps off “Gears of War: Ultimate Edition” at the E3. This edition is a remastered version of the original “Gears of War,” that will bring a host of improvements including improved split-screen co-op and competitive multiplayer.
Xbox Live members are reportedly receiving early public beta access codes for the “Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.” The game will retail for $39.99 following its Xbox One launch on Aug. 25.
