Kristen Stewart, 25, is currently in a same-sex relationship, her mother Jules Stewart has confirmed. It has been two years since the actress broke up with her "Twilight" co-star Robert Pattinson, 29, who is now engaged to FKA Twigs, 27.
Jules has given her to blessing to Kristen's relationship with her personal assistant Alicia Cargile. The actress's mother told the Sunday Mirror she has met Cargile, who she describes as a lovely girl, and said she likes her daughter's girlfriend.
"What's not to be accepting about her now having a girlfriend?" Jules told the publication. "She's happy. She's my daughter, I'm just her mom so she knows I would accept her choices."
Apparently, Jules has nothing against her daughter having a girlfriend. For her, "people need to be free to love whoever they want."
According to Jules, since people are free to choose their friends, they should also be free to choose their lovers. In her world, it is okay for a person to be who he or she is and she accepts the fact that her daughter loves men and women.
Working as a Hollywood career as a script supervisor, Jules said she has gay friends and family members and she is accepting of people. She said, "We are all free to choose who we want to love."
On the other hand, Jules said Kristen is still young so she would like to see her daughter have a lot more life experience before she chooses somebody to settle down with. The mother is also sad that the actress and Pattinson did not have an opportunity to be alone together.
In February, while she was being rumored to be dating Cargile, Kristen won a Cesar Award, the French version of Oscar Awards, for her supporting role in "Clouds of Sils Maria" and she was the very first American actress to receive the award, Los Angeles Times reported.
