A leaked photo posted by Twitter user @OnLeaks reveals that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will sport a 5.5-inch curved display along with other important specifications including the device's dimension hardware.
According to Techno Buffalo, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus looks very much like the Galaxy S6 Edge save for some minor changes to the design. Samsung only made a minor tweak to the device's external build by moving the microphone which is now situated next to the headphone jack. Despite looking hauntingly familiar to the Galaxy S6 Edge, the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is considered as an upgraded version of the smartphone rather than a direct predecessor.
The leak claims that the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus has an external dimension of 154.45 x 75.80 x 6.85 mm, this hints that the device will ship with a 5.5-inch screen. The leaked photo also shows a single standard microUSB port.
According to Forbes, Samsung will integrate a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor. This is one of the major hardware changes that Samsung plans to implement with its upcoming device. The Galaxy S6 Edge was shipped with Samsung's own Exynos 7420 processor.
Industry experts speculate that Samsung's decision to reincorporate third-party components to the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will increase the device's production cost which in turn could increase its retail price as well.
Samsung has yet to announce the official release date of the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. However, rumors claim that the company is planning to unveil the device in September at the IFA trade show in Berlin.
If these rumors are true, Samsung might release the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus probably along with the the Galaxy Note 5 Edge. Considering the leaked images and specs, the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will have a bigger screen compared to the Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy Note 5 Edge. However, the Galaxy S6 Edge will have slower computing speed compared to the two devices since it is powered by the less powerful Snadragon 808 processor.
