WhatsApp voice calling for Windows Phone was only available on the beta edition of the app since some time, but now it has been finally made available to the users. Users are required to download the latest app from Windows Phone Store to access the new WhatsApp voice calling feature.
Apart from the voice calling feature, the new version of the app also carries support for sending audio files. Rumors on WhatsApp calling feature first began in April, Phone Arena claimed.
At that time, it was reported that the feature would first for Android and iOS users and then to Windows Phone and BlackBerry users. However, it arrived to all the aforementioned platforms except Windows Phone.
According to International Business Times, the WhatsApp version of Windows Phone is expected to get many new features in the coming future. Video calling is speculated to arrive on WhatsApp as a free service. A 'Call via Skype' feature inside WhatsApp will easily allow users to begin a video call through Skype.
Facebook integration will allow users to use a new 'Send' button under the post apart from usual buttons such as Like, Comment and Share. WhatsApp users on Windows Phone will also be able to save their conversations on OneDrive cloud storage.
In February 2014, Facebook had acquired WhatsApp for $19 billion. It is the most famous instant messaging app that has over 800 million monthly active users. WhatsApp is available on various platforms like iOS, Android, BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10, Windows Phone, Nokia Series 40, and Symbian Tizen.
