Colombian striker Carlos Bacca has verified his alleged move to Italian club AC Milan from the Spanish team Sevilla FC. The reported €30 million transaction was finalized on Sunday, June 28 when Bacca signed the contract for Milan.
Recently, speculations emerged that English club Liverpool FC would also pursue Bacca after their signing of Brazilian midfielder Roberto Firmino last week. Evidently, the 28-year-old Puerto Colombia native chose San Siro over Anfield after being chased by AS Roma as well, as reported by Daily Mail Online.
He was one of the most impressive scorers in La Liga with 28 goals in 56 games for the Spanish club during the previous season.
"It needs to be confirmed, but what my person of confidence said is true: we've reached an agreement with Milan, which is the club with 100 percent of the possibility," he told Colombian reporters.
Sergio Barila, Bacca's agent, also verified the transfer saying that he can "confirm that Milan and the player have reached an agreement" and that the striker was happy he had "chosen the best for his future," as per SkySports.
Bacca was recently included in a controversy involving Brazilian star winger Neymar during the ongoing Copa America tournament. He was sent off together with the Seleção captain at the end of a 2-1 Colombian victory during the group eliminations.
Bacca violently pushed Neymar in retaliation after he kicked the ball into the back of Los Cafeteros defender Pablo Armero resulting in a two-match ban. He was then not able to play in their final elimination round game against Peru and their quarterfinal match against Argentina.
