After dramatically breaking the news of their divorce a day after their 10th anniversary, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have another big task at hand, which is dividing their fortune between them.
It turns out that the couple did not sign any prenuptial agreement. However, neither of them is fidgeting yet over how the assets should be divided. To ensure a smooth and bitter-free divorce, they are reportedly planning on entering mediation to ease the process and have instructed their individual lawyers to figure out a way to divide the fortune amicably.
In their decade long marriage, Bennifer, as the media loved to call the once-love struck pair, has accumulated vast wealth together, owing to their respective successful career run. The "Gone Girl" actor and his soon-to-be ex-wife together are owners of an estimated $115 million fortune, Independent reported.
The 42-year-old actor has undoubtedly better paychecks than his wife. However, the "13 Going On 30" actress is also not much behind owing to her lucrative promotional deals with companies such as Neutrogena and Capital One.
The couple is also an owner of 8,800-square-foot home that they purchased for $17.5 million in 2009. Since the property was acquired jointly by the couple from their income pool, the house is likely to be considered a community property.
The other property located in Georgia, which was bought by Affleck in 2003, will be spared and not be split, owing to the fact that the actor had acquired it when he was single.
Affleck and Garner met on the set of 2001's "Pearl Harbor" and later worked together in 2003's "Daredevil." The couple was married in June 2005 after a whirlwind courtship of about six months. They have two daughters and a son. Since their marriage has lasted a decade and owing to the fact that there are kids involved, the court is likely to announce spousal support in favor of Garner.
Los Angeles-based divorce attorney Jerry Wang, however, told People that since the actress is financially independent and capable enough, the court will not award lifetime spousal support. The couple reportedly plans to share custody and co-parent their kids.
