An informal chat with Facebook's Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg may seem far-off for ordinary folks and working professionals. However, that is what exactly happened when the 31-year-old Internet entrepreneur gamely answered questions on his official Facebook page.
Celebrities, a media mogul, and social media regulars were able to ask, comment and react through a brief question-and-answer session started by the Facebook co-founder. The hour-long Q&A created a ripple effect, and as more people joined in the exchange of ideas, Zuckerberg had to state that they had gone overtime, but followed it up by saying there will be a similar session soon.
As USA Today noted, "the world has questions... Mark Zuckerberg has answers." The questions asked ranged from simple and humdrum (as some Facebook users commented) to deep. There were tech-related inquiries pertaining to future trends.
While the initial Q&A session enabled Zuckerberg to get a pulse of the community, as he himself wrote on his official page, it also thrilled and enlightened social media denizens. Among the famous people that the visionary CEO fielded questions from were "Terminator Genisys" actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, British theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking, and The Huffington Post co-founder Arianna Huffington, among others.
Schwarzenegger asked about Zuckerberg's workout regimen; the Facebook CEO replied that he tries to adhere to a thrice-a-week workout, usually by running with his dog when time permits. Zuckerberg mentioned that people tend to have more energy to do things if they are fit.
Huffington asked Zuckerberg his views on how media entities will most likely develop in the coming years, and what products Facebook will be offering in that realm. Zuckerberg replied that future product trends include more immersive content, not just plain text, snaps and videos which are the current rage.
Zuckerberg reiterated his all-encompassing goal, which is connectivity of the world. Being connected will open paths and resolve problems, be it on health, education, jobs, government services, and so on. To achieve this end, Zuckerberg added that he welcomes the idea of working with a tech company like Google, Bloomberg reported.
Zuckerberg also hinted on possible Facebook technologies, like social media users being able to convey thoughts instantaneously to their friend; and how the social networking site's 'real name' policy can work for the transgender community.
