The image of a woman holding a mobile device might just be the confirmation that the Google Nexus 2015 is for real and the photo surfacing on the official Android site seems to suggest that the device release date is fast approaching.
Initially, Android Pit reported with excitement that it may have just stumbled on a surreptitious Google move of outing its flagship phone with the public not detecting anything. The assumption makes sense as the supposed device was spotted on Android.com, which should be where the Nexus maker would want to hide the smartphone, and ironically in plain sight.
And Google doing such a thing is nothing new, the same report noted, recalling too that before the LG Nexus 5 was rolled out in 2013, it was previewed in the same manner. Is the tech giant retracing on the same path?
In the updated report, Android Pit provided the answer. It assumed too quick and conceded that the Nexus 2015 coming out, even for a glimpse, is just too soon. In other words, it was a false alarm.
The photo itself gave out clues that the device in question is not a Nexus, at least the upcoming smartphone version this 2015. A quick glance would tell that device will not even fit into a smartphone profile - definitely not the 5.7-inch Huawei Angler and more so not the 5.2-inch LG Bullhead.
The two, it should be noted, are rumored as the two Nexus models that Google will reportedly deploy later this year.
What woman holds, the report said, is more of a tablet, specifically the compact kind. So it's safe to assume that for the press shot, Google used the Nexus 7. It strange, however, the picture is for an Android phone promo but Android Pit's scramble to find a match, even outside of the Nexus circle, proved fruitless.
"Our newsroom is abuzz with answering the question, but so far we've been unable to come up with an existing smartphone which fits the bill," the blog report admitted.
So it's back to the waiting and guessing game though the Android world is not exactly wanting in solid information about the coveted Android flagship device. Fans are expecting LG and Huawei to provide the hardware with Motorola a wild card as its upcoming Moto X 2015 is being floated around as credible base-model for the next Nexus flagship handset.
For the most part, the specs and features attributed to the Nexus 2015 remain unconfirmed but one thing is definitely sure - that the device on release date will unbox with the pure Android M, which Google revealed last May.
