Android 5.1 is finally available for Motorola Droid Turbo users. Verizon has released the firmware update on the promised date of July 1. The Verizon Droid Turbo now joins other Motorola handsets like Moto X (Gen 2), Moto X (2013), Moto G (Gen 2), Moto G (2013) and Moto E (2015) that are currently in the process of receiving Android 5.1.
The software version 23.11.38.quark_verizon.verizon.en.US for Motorola Droid Turbo handsets that updates device from Android 5.1 Lollipop has been released by Verizon Wireless. After the handset was released in October 2014 with Android 4.4.4 KitKat onboard, it did not receive updates like Android 5.0 Lollipop and Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. However, now it has been directly updated to Android 5.1.
Verizon has also published all the new benefits that arrive with Android 5.1 Lollipop. Some of the features that Droid Turbo users can take advantage of include Material Design, Notification & Proirities, Recent App, Flashlight, Quick Settings, App Pining, Battery Saver mode, Moto Display & Ambient Display, Moto Assist, Smart Lock, Device Protection, improved performance and more.
One needs to be aware of the fact that the update does not install two features such as the Guest Mode and Multi-user support. The carrier advises its users that in order to update to Android 5.1, Motorola Droid Turbo handsets should have at least 40 percent of battery power.
Users can install the latest firmware when a notification shows up on the device. Alternatively, users can manually check for the update by going to Settings > System updates > Check for system updates. Even though the much awaited update has begun, it will take few more days for all the Droid Turbo owners to receive the update, Phone Arena claimed.
