The Destiny's Child singer is likely to play the mother of the younger version of Terrence Howard's character Lucious in the next season. The show will travel in flashback to explore the struggles the gangster-turned-rapper faced in his childhood and the turn of events that shaped his present.
Despite the rumor that Winfrey has turned down the offer to appear in the popular show, it is reported that the show's creator, Lee Daniel, has eventually convinced the popular talk show host for a cameo yet significant role in the next season, TIME reported.
Another star to appear in the upcoming season of the show is "My Cousin Vinny" star. The 50-year-old Tomei, who is rarely seen on TV, is likely to appear in multiple episodes as a demanding lesbian billionaire venture capitalist.
"No One" singer Alicia Keys is also rumored to make a cameo appearance, exhibiting her vocal skill in the show.
Things will also heat-up for Lucious' ex-wife Cookie, played by Taraji P. Henson as "Magic Mike XXL" actor Adam Rodriguez will be introduced in the upcoming season as his lover, Daily Mail reported. Fans of the show are aware that after spending 17 years in jail for drug dealing, Cookie is determined to reclaim her share of Empire Entertainment and dethrone Lucious' long time lover Anika, played by Grace Gealey.
"Top Five" Chris Rock actor is also likley to join the star-studded cast of the show. Although the production house is keeping the detail of his character under wrap, saying that he is playing "someone from the past," Daniel's latest Instagram upload featured the actor and Howard's character in matching orange suit. The video indicates that Rock is likely to play the role of hip hop mogul's prison mate, who has re-entered his life.
