Kendall Jenner was handpicked by Karl Lagerfeld as the brand's "bride" to close the prestigious Chanel fashion show, which had a casino-inspired theme this year.
For her seventh Chanel fashion show appearance, the 19-year-old model got to walk the runway solo to close the show. The model was wearing a crisp white bridal satin suit, which seems to be a tribute to historic U.S. Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage.
The bridal suit has a tailored jacket with dramatic broad shoulders and slim-fit trousers, along with a trailing semi-sheer cape and large floral embellishing. The brunette beauty looked quite different from her usual self as she covered up her long locks with a cropped wig.
The recent Chanel show is likely to mark a turning point in Jenner's modeling career as Lagerfeld is known to personally choose his "bride" to close the show every year, who he feels is the model-of-the-moment, Daily Mail reported. Cara Delevingne was chosen twice before to walk the runway last, but her acting commitment kept her away from the runway this year.
This year's Chanel show was held at Grand Palais des Champs-Élysées, where large card tables and slot machines transformed the historic space into a Chanel casino. Taking the runway fashion show to another level, Lagerfeld invited Julianne Moore, Kristen Stewart, Vanessa Paradis and Lily Collins in a make-believe casino set in the middle of the catwalk, while the runway show took place around them.
The venue was given a makeover with slot machines lining the outer walls and plushy upholstered chairs surrounding the blackjack and roulette tables. Once the tables were set, the celebrity guests made an appearance, who were also enlisted with 1932 collection of Chanel diamond jewelry, The Guardian reported. Also making her first Chanel appearance was Johnny Depp's daughter Lily-Rose Depp, who reportedly wore a little black dress and a diamond hairpiece for the occasion.
