"Married at First Sight" season 3 is reportedly about to get cancelled and will be replaced by "Seven Year Switch." It was said that because of the controversies surrounding the season 2 couples, Ryan D. and Davina, Ryan R. and Jessica, Sean and Jaclyn, the FYI executives are having second thoughts about renewing the series.
According to Realty Today, the new show "Seven Year Switch" would be a better replacement for the series. The new FYI show is reportedly dedicated to help couples get over the seven-year-itch period. Based on the reality show's synopsis, relationship experts will find two couples who have similar personality traits and they will be asked to switch partners and live together for two weeks.
It was said that the experiment wanted to determine if having a partner with different traits and characteristics was beneficial or detrimental to the relationship. Being with someone new, will reportedly help the couples evaluate their spouses. After the two-week period, the couples would then decide if they wanted to stay married and renew their vows, or file for a divorce.
It was said that the both couples in the season 1 of "Seven Year Switch" are optimistic that the reality show would help them save their marriage.
According to IB Times, "Seven Year Switch" and "Married at First Sight" have a lot in common. Both shows reportedly deal with "experimental marriages" with couples having to make a decision of staying married or getting a divorce at the end of the season.
