Fans of the "Hunger Games" movie franchise had a sneak peak of the forthcoming film "Mockingjay Part 2" during the San Diego Comic Con. Core members of the movie also took center stage on July 9, Thursday, and shared a few of their experiences while filming.
The "Hunger Games" movie panel started with a bang when a group of drummers all wearing white came out marching into Hall H of the San Diego Convention Center. The drummers were pounding a beat reminiscent of the military theme used in the film. After the rousing intro, director Francis Lawrence unveiled the fiery and action-packed trailer of "Mockingjay Part 2."
Movie fans will be glad to hear that the character Katniss Everdeen will play a more active role in "Mockingjay Part 2." According to the Wall Street Journal, the director told Comic Con conventioneers who attended the movie's panel that the upcoming film will feature Katniss in some battle scenes as she goes after Snow.
Jennifer Lawrence, who plays Katniss, was also in attendance during Thursday's Comic Con, along with cast members Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, and producer Nina Jacobson. The banter between Hemsworth, Hutherson and Lawrence made the one-hour panel more lively and interesting, Washington Post reported.
There was even a moment when Hemsworth and Lawrence playfully patted Hutherson's face. The gesture was made after Hutherson admitted that aside from "getting to know these people," "Hunger Games" gave him his most incredible movie-making experience. Hemsworth, who plays Gale Hawthorne in the film also teased that he and Hutherson might have shared a kiss during a touching scene he shared with the actor.
Meanwhile, Lawrence had an inspiring message to young people, and hopes that the movie will make them realize that the "power of our future is in our hands." The actress further shared she has formed a bond with her character Katniss and will not be easy to say goodbye given the changes that the four movies brought in her life.
TV personality Conan O'Brien hosted the "Hunger Games" panel during the San Diego Comic Con. "Mockingjay Part 2" is set to be released on Nov. 20.
