With Josh Trank's "Fantastic Four" hitting the big screen next month and Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Apocalypse" coming to theaters next year, rumors say that 20th Century Fox considers Singer as one of the possible directors of "Fantastic Four 2" with the plan of merging the two superhero teams in a single universe.
"Divergent" actor Miles Teller, who plays Mr. Fantastic, told Cinema Blend that Singer is a remarkable filmmaker, in addition to expressing his interest for "X-Men" films. The actor added that it is great to see a person who can combine the Fantastic Four and the X-Men into one world without doing it just for money.
In his interview with Cinema Blend, "The Adventures of Tintin" voice actor Jamie Bell, who plays The Thing, also said that "X-Men" franchise provides an efficient framework that other filmmakers can take into account in order to produce something "fresh" and "good."
According to Movie Web, the 20th Century Fox panel is ongoing in Comic-Con Hall H at present, in which the rumor may be raised. Since the panel includes "Fantastic Four" and "X-Men: Apocalypse," an answer to the rumor is assumed to be heard soon.
Aside from Teller and Bell, "Fantastic Four" also stars Kate Mara and Michael B. Jordan. On the other hand, "X-Men: Apocalypse" stars Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender, and James McAvoy.
Trank's "Fantastic Four" is slated to premiere on Aug. 5 while its sequel is schedule for release on June 9, 2017. Meanwhile, Singer's "X-Men: Apocalypse" hits theaters on May 26, 2016.
