The highly anticipated movie “Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation,” fifth iteration of the Tom Cruise’s “Mission Impossible” movie series, has credited the “Uncharted” series with yet another award.
The plane stunt, the biggest stunt sequence revealed so far in the trailer, which features Cruise holding on the side of an airplane as it take off, is said to have taken inspiration from the Naughty Dog’s “Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception,” GameSpot reported.
“Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation” director Christopher McQuarrie in a recent Q&A session, tweeted that the plane stunt was a “group effort” inspired by the Uncharted game.
Following his tweet, “Uncharted 3” co-director Justin Richmond tweeted “you just made my month.”
McQuarrie has referred the cargo plane sequence in the “Uncharted 3,” in which Nathan Drake follows a cargo plane and hops onto a landing wheel as lifts off, Eurogamer reported.
However, this is not the first instance the “Uncharted” series has been mentioned in Hollywood. Just this month, JJ Abrams, the director of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” named the “Uncharted 2: Among Thieves” introduction sequence to be “the best opening scene” he has ever seen.
The “Uncharted” series is getting its final closure in the upcoming “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” release which will more likely happen by April 2016. The story line will be around 3 years after the events that happened in the “Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.”
The game title was initially expected to be rolled out by this year at the E3 event, as it was first announced in 2013. However, the “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” release date was pushed back to 2016, as developers required some more time.
