Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC announced that it will release four budget-friendly devices to the United States under the company's Desire series. HTC aims to capture the pre-paid market and also plans to tie-up with Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and several smaller networks.
According to CNet, the HTC Desire series will be released in the midrange smartphone market and will have plastic chassis. Four models will be released in the US, the Desire, 520, 526, 626 and the 626S.
All the devices in HTC's Desire lineup will have Quad-core Snapdragon 210 chipset from Qualcomm, 8-megapixel main camera and up to 2TB support for microSD and microSDXC for storage expansion.
On top of the group is the Desire 626 and Desire 626S. The two smartphones have 5-inch display with 720p resolution. The Desire 626S will be released for pre-paid consumers and will have a 2-megapixel front camera, and 8GB of internal storage. The Desire 626, released under T-Mobile and AT&T, will have a 16GB internal storage and 5-megapixel front camera. Both the Desire 626 and 626S will have 1.5GB of RAM.
The Desire 520 will be exclusive for Cricket and has a 4.5-inch screen with 854x480 resolution. It has 8GB of internal storage, an 8-megapixel main camera and a 2-megapixel front facing camera both can record 720p videos.
The Verizon-exclusive Desire 526 sports a curved bezels with 4.7-inch screen with qHD resolution of 960x540. It has a 1.5GB of RAM and just like the Desire 520, its 8-megapixel main and 2-megapixel secondary camera can capture videos at 720p.
According to Tech Crunch, HTC will release the Desire series on several networks carries including Verizon, AT&T, Spring, MetroPCS, Tracphone, Boost Mobile, Cricket Wireless and Virgin Mobile.
