Apple has been awarded a patent dubbed Method And System For Delivering Advertisements To Mobile Terminals by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). This patent can target adverts based on the user's profile or bank account's balance.
According to Tech Times, it is no surprise that Apple could monitor its users activity and spending power. The handy little product can determine whether or not a user is capable of buying an advertised products by checking its available credit.
Another way of Apple profiling its users is through the amount of the prepaid credit the user has. This only means that customers will only see adverts that will match their profiled credit limit.
For Apple, it is efficient if the ads will only be delivered to the people who can afford the service or the goods. As a result, this will increase the possibility of users responding to the adverts more efficiently and converting every clicked advert into sales. Giving more revenue to advertisers as they save on every advertisement.
In March, Apple filed its patent application, which was approved on July 16, Thursday, by the USPTO. It was not confirmed yet whether or not Apple will implement the ad-tailoring as described in its patent, CBC News.
Apple on this patent shows a favor only on advertisers side. One may not have money on their prepaid phone or bank account but has the right to know their options. This reminds customers about Tim Cook's word that Apple will not use their customer's data for their own interest.
